Spray foam, blown-in, fiberglass, attic, crawl space, and commercial insulation for the largest city in our service area. Headquartered in Mattoon, serving Champaign-Urbana since 1974.
Champaign is the largest city in our service area, with approximately 92,000 residents and a housing stock that spans more than a century. The city sits 50 miles north of our Mattoon headquarters along I-57. We have been insulating homes, commercial buildings, and agricultural structures in Champaign and Champaign County since 1974, and it is one of our most active markets.
Champaign's housing stock is more diverse than most central Illinois cities. The older neighborhoods near downtown and the University of Illinois campus include homes built in the early 1900s with balloon-frame construction, plaster walls, and minimal insulation. The postwar neighborhoods along Neil Street and Windsor Road are filled with 1950s and 1960s ranch homes and split-levels.
The median construction year for homes in Champaign is 1985, which is almost 30 years newer than Mattoon's 1956 median. About 15% of the city's homes were built before 1940, and those older homes in neighborhoods like Campustown, Old Town Champaign, and the West Side often have the most severe insulation deficiencies.
The growth corridors in southwest and southeast Champaign include newer construction from the 1990s through today, much of which was insulated to code at the time but may now fall short of current R-49 attic requirements.
Whether you own a turn-of-the-century home near the U of I campus, a 1960s ranch in Garden Hills, or a newer home in the subdivisions off Windsor Road, we can assess your insulation, identify the gaps, and bring your home up to current performance standards.
The neighborhoods surrounding the University of Illinois contain some of the oldest housing stock in Champaign County. Many of these homes have balloon-frame walls with no insulation, single-pane windows, and attics with deteriorated rock wool or thin fiberglass. They are drafty in winter and expensive to heat. Dense-pack cellulose in the wall cavities and attic air sealing with blown-in insulation are the highest-impact upgrades.
Champaign's large student population means a significant percentage of the housing stock is rental property. Landlords and property managers looking to reduce tenant turnover, lower utility costs, and comply with City of Champaign property maintenance codes benefit from insulation upgrades that reduce heating and cooling bills across multiple units.
The neighborhoods built in the 1950s through 1970s typically have R-11 to R-19 fiberglass batts in the attic (well below the current R-49 requirement), some wall insulation, and crawl spaces or basements with minimal treatment. These homes are the sweet spot for blown-in attic upgrades and rim joist spray foam.
Champaign continues to grow, particularly in the southwest and southeast quadrants. New homes built to the 2021 IECC require proper insulation installation from the start. We work with builders and general contractors on new construction fiberglass, blown-in, and spray foam installations.
Champaign is a regional commercial center with offices, retail, medical facilities, and institutional buildings. We provide commercial insulation services with the insurance coverage, crew capacity, and code compliance documentation that commercial projects require.

Our Mattoon headquarters is 50 miles south on I-57. We are not a contractor driving from Chicago or St. Louis. Our crews are in Champaign regularly, scheduling estimates within one to two business days.
We have been insulating homes and buildings since 1974. We understand Climate Zone 5 requirements, local building departments, and Champaign County's mix of historic homes and new construction.
Champaign needs both. We insulate single-family homes, rental properties, new construction, and commercial buildings with the same crew, insurance, and standards.
General liability and workers' compensation on every project. Certificates of insurance provided. Additional insured endorsements for commercial and property managers.
Five hundred residential, commercial, and agricultural insulation projects across central Illinois, with a significant portion in Champaign County.
We provide detailed, written estimates at no cost. No vague ballpark numbers. We show up, measure, assess, and provide a specific scope and price.
